YouTube Cancels Billions of 'Fake' Video Views, Three Major Labels Hit Hardest

Written by: Jason Ray

YouTube has cracked down on three major record companies, retracting more than 2 billion 'falsified' views on their YouTube channels.
Three of the major recording labels - Universal Music Group, Sony/BMG and RCA Records - have been penalized after a major crackdown on fake views via YouTube. According to The Daily Mail (UK), the popular Internet video provider has stripped the three music groups of more than 2 billion falsified video views.
Google, YouTube's parent, retracted upwards of 2 billion views from videos published by Universal Music Group, Sony/BMG and RCA. These views are believed to be derived from "black hat" view count-building techniques, in which third-party companies inflate the total view counts as a means to manipulate a video's popularity and its increase popularity on YouTube.
Universal, home of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, lost a total of one billion views. Sony was next in line, with the label backing such stars as Alicia Keys, Rita Ora and Labrinth losing more than 850 million views in a single day.
As part of the punitive measures that Google has taken against the three companies, all but five of UMG's published videos had been deleted from its channel, while the number of videos on Sony's channel was cut down to a meagre three.
With Google's crackdown on black hat views, the effects can be felt on more than 500 different official artist channels, including official channels for Chris Brown, Beyoncé and Michael Jackson.
The number of views attracted by YouTube videos are often regarded, these days, as unofficial music charting worldwide, so once it became clear that views had been falsified, fingers naturally pointed at the record industry.

Kanye West Wears Masks During Atlantic City Performance

Written by:  Nicolas James
'Ye rocked a series of masks during a performance in Atlantic City last night.
In celebration of the final Friday of the year, Kanye West hit the stage at the Revel Hotel, Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey rocking layers of heavy white clothing including a waistcoat. Although the clothes weren't exactly unusual for the flamboyant superstar, what was unusual were the various masks he wore during the set. One was was reminiscent of the Phantom of the Opera mask with a white feather headdress, while the other looked like a gaudy mesh fencing mask.
He banged out hits like "Power," "Runaway," and "Heartless" with his face concealed, finally revealing himself toward the end of the set. Despite the mysterious wardrobe choice, he reportedly killed it.
Peep raw footage of the show below (pardon the audio).

Drake Requests Judge Dismiss Nightclub Lawsuit

Written by:
Citing past violent events at the club, Drake has asked a judge to throw out the lawsuit from W.i.P. against himself and Chris Brown.
The story that ruled the headlines over the summer was the nightclub brawl between Drake and Chris Brown.  A litany of lawsuits ensued, including the club suing the two artists for damaging their reputation.  Now Drake has asked a judge to dismiss this, claiming that the club was not in good standing even prior to the debacle.
Even though the fight with Drizzy and Breezy lead to bottles being thrown, and various club-goers incurring injuries, Drake contends that this is business as usual at this venue.  The Canadian rapper cites the New York Times, as it once described W.i.P. as having "a history of violence and other problems."
The YMCMB artist has also cited an incident in 2011 when the club was shut down by the NYPD, and even had its liquor license suspended because of "a string of violent incidents." Regardless of the outcome, don't expect this to be the last you year of the infamous club brawl.

Justin Bieber - As Long As You Love Me ft. Big Sean

"As Long As You Love Me" is a song by Canadian recording artist Justin Bieber, from his third studio albumBelieve (2012). The track was produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Andre Lindal. It was written by Rodney JerkinsAndre Lindal, Nasri Atweh, Sean Anderson and Justin Bieber. It was first released on June 11, 2012 as a promotional single from the album, and one month later it was released as the album's second single. The R&B track features American rapper Big Sean. The song has since charted in the United Kingdom first at number thirty as a promo single with first week sales of 11,598, and then after being released as a single it improved its position on the UK Singles Chart reaching #22.[1] On Billboard's Rhythmic Airplay Chart, the single reached number one, giving Bieber his first number one single on an American airplay music chart.[2] It also reached the number one position on Billboard'sDance/Mix Show Airplay chart, making Bieber the fifth Canadian artist to reach that position after Martin Solveig featuring Toronto'sDragonette's "Hello" in 2011.[3] It has sold 2,046,000 copies in the US as December 2012.[4] The music video features actor Michael Madsen.

"As Long as You Love Me" was written by Sean Anderson and Justin Bieber, while production was handled by Darkchild and Lindal[13] and it features a bridge from American rapper Big Sean.[14] The song is officially written in the key of C minor.[15] It is an R&Belectronic dance[16] and described as "heavy dubstep" song,[14] featuring hard-hitting beat,[17] synth and hand claps[18] with vocal loops complemented by a booming beat.[19] As the song continues, it builds and builds to a rave-ready drop.[20]
Lyrically, it tells listeners that true love can defy all circumstances and the obstacles that it can overcome.[14][21] "As long as you love me/ We could be starving/ We could be homeless/ We could be broke," Bieber sings over a staccato beat and handclaps, with an undercurrent of a swirling-sounding synth.[19] "As long as you love me/ I'll be your platinum/ I'll be your silver/ I'll be your gold," he adds.[19] In a part of the song, he makes a reference to American girl group Destiny's Child, singing: "You could be my Destiny’s Child...", possibly because Darkchild had produced tracks for the group.[22] Big Sean drops a rap exalting a lady love, too.[19] "I know if this makes sense/ But you're my hallelujah," Sean raps.[19]
